I’m in a complicated, hard earned, long term relationship with watercolors where I am both the master and the rebel. I get to paint backwards. Light to dark… and it’s a tight rope balance of obeying the rules and breaking them. You have to know when to pull back and when to be the wild child without ever truly letting go of that control at the end of the brush. I like this moment in the painting where everything is set up “just enough” so I can decide how the rest will go… in this case I gave her unruly blonde waves and ruby renaissance lips and some earrings she might have borrowed from her great grandmothers collection. #painting #process #watercolor (Taken with Instagram)
